Welcome to the newest feature on MYFO: Welcome Back! We know there’s a lot of fans of football teams that have nothing to pay attention to anymore. Knowing that, they’re turning to other sports. We’re happy to help. Every time a football team’s season ends, we’ll welcome those fans back to the fold by giving them an update as to what that city’s team has been up to this year.
Welcome Back, Redskins Fans!
YOUR Washington Capitals are better than the aforementioned Tampa Bay Lightning! That’s right, Beltway Nation! You’re not last in the Southeast. Like the Lightning, your team plays high scoring, exciting hockey. Of course, so do their opponents, which leads to its share of 6-5 OT losses. Remember Glen Hanlon? Yeah? Ok, forget him. He got fired awhile back, and Uncle Ted replaced him with the organization’s AHL coach, Bruce Boudreau. In their last 16 games, they’ve been 9-4-3, including a great win in Canuckistan Saturday. Who’s leading the charge – who else? Alex Ovechkin has 52 points, and he’s taken 28 more shots than the next guy in the league (Zetterberg). Oh, and he can model a free t-shirt with the best of them. The biggest surprise in DC has been Mike Green – a young defenseman averaging 21 minutes of ice time and amassing 11 goals in the process. He’s only a minus 1, too! YES!
And to top that, Green insists that he would make every effort to tackle should Marcus Trufant intercept a Todd Collins pass.
